This position is accountable, under regular supervision, for installation, monitoring, diagnosis, repair and preventive maintenance of electronic, pneumatic mechanical and hydraulic instrumentation.  Individuals must perform non-destructive testing and analysis on rotating and auxiliary equipment and control systems in a designated area of a natural gas pipeline system.


Storage Technicians will be accountable, under regular and direct supervision, for installation, monitoring, diagnosis, repair and preventive maintenance of underground gas storage wellbore and associated wellhead equipment. This position assists with the operation of glycol dehydration systems. This position assists local Area Operations personnel to coordinate activities with Storage Services to insure the safe, reliable and efficient day-to-day operations of the storage field; and assists with storage field/well monitoring and maintenance including monitoring the activity of outside operators near company storage facilities. Individuals will perform basic tasks and projects of lesser complexity, relying on established guidelines and/or detailed direction. Work experience and classes from Company will familiarize employee with processes, procedures, guidelines, regulations, and policies of Company, department, and industry, while demonstrating professional conduct and business ethics.


  • This position will have a basic knowledge and understanding of the storage field they are primarily responsible for and its operating requirements
  • This position possesses basic technical knowledge of storage well testing, work-over equipment and techniques
  • This position will have basic technical knowledge of glycol dehydration systems and their operation
  • This position has basic skills in project coordination and management
  • This individual will internally interface with all levels of Operation personnel and accept assigned responsibilities
  • This individual will perform technically at a high level while maintaining positive and ethical relationships with others including customers, consultants and vendors
  • The technician will be required to maintain and operate their assigned facilities in strict compliance with the SSCGP O&M Manual and State and Federal regulatory codes
  • Ensure compliance with the SSCGP O&M manual on MIT schedule & testing; Field Safety Inspections
  • Become qualified in the Operator Qualification (OQ) Tasks that are required to perform the storage technician jobs, as assigned
  • Learn to perform KCC/OCC permitting and correspondence when required for field operations & maintenance
  • Develop contacts, relationships, & monitor oil producers and landowners.
  • Protect the integrity of the storage fields
  • Analyze storage well problems and assist with developing workover plans
  • Assist with contacting, selecting, and coordinating storage well testing and workover contractors
  • Provide on-site assistance and support for Technicians, Storage Operators, Area Managers and Team Leads
  • Provide analysis and enhancement of storage well and storage field performance
  • Assist with planning, justifying, and budgeting for storage field activities, capital projects, and maintenance projects
  • Verify that work products conform to applicable codes, standards, specifications and requirements
  • Take responsibility for meeting challenging tasks using experience, innovation, technology, judgment and decision making
  • Establish peer relationships to optimize activities with others throughout the company
  • Continually build and improve the capabilities of the organization by championing innovation and implementing best practices
  • Translate company Guiding Principles, Vision, Mission and Strategies into business & operating goals and daily business practices and relationships
  • Other duties as assigned



  • This position requires a relevant two-year associate degree or a minimum of 0 to 3 years of equivalent work experience
  • The individual must possess a high level of problem-solving capabilities, good oral and written communication skills, and must demonstrate leadership skills plus the ability to exercise sound judgment with minimum supervision
  • Knowledgeable about concepts relating to installation, diagnosis, repairing, operating, monitoring of all storage related equipment, related auxiliary equipment and facilities in a designated area(s) of natural gas pipeline system
  • Knowledgeable about concepts relating to glycol dehydration operations, including equipment, operation, repair and troubleshooting
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
