Overview

This position ensures compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations in support of Company operations, maintenance, and construction activities. This position also directly supports company initiatives related to ESG.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  •  Provides technical guidance and assistance to various company departments concerning compliance with environmental regulations
  • Prepares and submits documents related to gaining federal or state authorization for company activities or demonstrating compliance with applicable regulations to the respective agencies
  • Monitors regulatory initiatives, estimates potential impacts to company, and participates in the process involved in the rulemaking
  • Provides support to company initiatives related to ESG
  • May serve as a liaison to regulatory agencies in support of company functions
  • Performs various duties associated with the position as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Other requirements:

  • Travel 15% average, automobile and plane
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability
  • Reliable attendance, scheduling flexibility when job demands require
  • Ability to work positively and effectively prioritize in a high-stress, demanding environment

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related physical science field or equivalent work experience, as determined by the company.
  • 3+ years of environmental work experience related to air permitting, SPCC, and other applicable environmental compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of environmental rules and regulations
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze regulatory initiatives and estimate the impact to the company
  • Competence in written and oral communications
  • Analytical and problem resolution abilities
  • Knowledge of Company policies and gas pipeline operations
  • Ability to manage and oversee environmental projects
  • Organizational skills necessary for compiling and manipulating data into appropriate records and reports in addition to maintaining compliance documentation
  • Competence in Microsoft suite of programs
  • Works independently with minimal supervision

Preferred

  • Major in environmental studies, chemistry, biology, or engineering
  • Advanced degree
  • General understanding of environmental rules and regulations
  • Experience writing various permitting documents such as Air permits and SPCC Plans preferred
  • Experience with EPA and State Department of Environmental regulations preferred
