Engineer, Capacity Planning

This position will be responsible for and/or assist in various activities such as; perform the planning, analysis, design, estimating, construction, alterations, and/or operations/maintenance support of company facilities. Plan, perform, and/or conduct a diverse range of engineering tasks and projects, relying on established guidelines, technical ability, experience, innovation, and judgement, both independently and with group support and evaluation. Clearly present the results of research and analysis, while maintaining the supporting details and documentation. Prepare exhibits for presentation to regulatory bodies and courts. Develop and/or implement technical standards and verify that work products conform to applicable Industry, State, and Federal codes and regulations. May cross into new fields of technical specialty.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Analysis:

• Research and analyze data such as customer design proposals, specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design and/or application
• Research and analyze data to develop/produce/refine engineering facility designs, preliminary scope of work, and estimates
• Maintain data sources to analyze energy demand, supply and competitive forces that impact short and long-term revenue and throughput
• Perform capacity analysis studies, and develop and maintain the system computational flow model

Compliance:

• Verify work products conform to applicable codes, standards, specifications, and requirements of internal/external business partners
• Prepare monthly and annual compliance (DOE and FERC) compliance filings
• Prepare exhibits for regulatory and legal proceedings

Communication and Collaboration:

• Communicate with project teams to outline work plan and assign responsibilities and scope of authority
• Communicate with internal and external business partners to determine needs and satisfaction; to determine the current status and priorities; and to obtain technical advice
• Help to identify, develop, and recommend improvements to engineering processes and company policies and practices
• Develop, refine, and implement value added recommendations throughout the business unit
• Act as a liaison between Gas Control, Storage, Operations, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Solutions, and Strategic Growth for expansion requirements, facility outages, & system modifications

Project Support:

• Perform optimizations, troubleshooting and feasibility studies
• Coordinate goals, work plans, responsibilities, and resources and monitor work performance in alignment with business objectives
• Prepare reports, specifications, plans, studies, estimates, hydraulic models, and/or designs
• Provide engineering information and technical advice, investigating all variables for consideration of possible solutions
• Assist in developing the long-range strategic plan including the implementation goals for annual strategic plan components of the business plan
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ABET–Accredited Engineering Program)
• Entry-level to 3 years’ experience in applying engineering principles toward design proposals and specifications
• Familiarity with project management fundamentals
• Experience communicating data and concepts in a manner understandable to a wide range of individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Valid Driver’s license and insurability
• Ability to read, understand project drawings, specifications, plans, studies, estimates, hydraulic models and/or designs
• Ability to work successfully with individuals throughout the organization
• Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills
• Basic skill level in Microsoft Office
• Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Excel or similar 

Preferred

• Experience using Synergi Gas
• Fundamentals of Engineering Certificate
• Experience as project lead
• Knowledge of Company policies and gas pipeline operations
• Experience using financial reporting or project execution software
