Overview

This position reports to the VP, IT and Security and is responsible for the direction and oversight of Company’s information technology infrastructure areas.

The manager is responsible for overall leadership, implementation of strategies, and management oversight in these areas. A significant level of independent thought and action, based on extensive experience and sound judgment, is used to fulfill the position’s requirements.

 

The manager will analyze, propose, oversee the development and implementation of, update and maintain, educate regarding, and report on the effectiveness of strategies, processes, procedures, goals, and policies necessary to provide the support systems required for the Company’s Infrastructure needs to enable the Company to achieve its Vision, Mission, Strategy, and goals. Review changes to policies and procedures for consistency with industry standards and their compliance with government regulations. Maintain awareness of the most current technology and equipment advances through research, training, and participation in industry associations. Oversee training programs to enhance skills and technical competence of personnel. Represent corporate security interests to other managers and upper management as well as other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to):

 

Leadership Specific:

  • Account for the performance and achievement of employees in reporting area and teach employees in area to be likewise personally accountable
  • Serve as a role model for Company’s Guiding Principles and actively exhibit behaviors which champion its Vision and Mission
  • Engage in consistent performance management (e.g., coaching, teaching, appraising, and mentoring)
  • Execute staff growth plans

Position Specific:

  • Plan and direct programs, policies, practices to ensure organization’s infrastructure activities comply with regulatory requirements
  • Ensure compliance (by section and organization) with all applicable laws, policies, and procedures within area
  • Focus on cost control to create value
  • Assist with the development, implementation and management of Company’s infrastructure vision, strategy, and programs
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS technologies
  • Oversee TCP/IP networking, virtual private networks, access controls, encryption techniques, and security solution deployment strategies and management that overlap with IT security
  • Assist with incident response management and provide cross-functional coordination related to IT security operations
  • Manage disaster recovery planning and testing, along with the department’s emergency planning/business continuity efforts
  • Research and recommend policies, procedures, and standards based on various industry and government strategies and standards in privacy and security, including Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (COBIT), and others where applicable
  • Ensure knowledge transfer to team members and effectively manage remotely based teams
  • Manage risks and business impacts of privacy laws and policies related to personal and financial information
  • Provide consultative support to other departments in Infrastructure area
  • Develop relationships with customers (internal and/or external) to ensure goals are being met
  • Maintain overall knowledge of infrastructure components and apply that knowledge to developing strategic plans and policies
  • Perform employee performance appraisals and coach employees to gain efficiencies, to prepare for added responsibilities and ensure succession planning is in place
  • Determine directions related to new innovations and modernization of infrastructure
  • Account for company expense and capital related budget and forecasting for specific area
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience as determined by the Company
  • 5+ years of experience in information technology, security, or related field
  • Ability to lead technical staff
  • Experience leading large IT application, infrastructure, or security projects
  • Ability to budget / forecast expense and capital
  • Ability to inspire, teach, and guide others in their work
  • Basic understanding of regulatory environment in which Company operates

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or other advanced degree
  • Major in business, communications, or information technology
  • 2+ years of experience in a supervisory role
