Overview

This position assists with and is responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, replication, backup, and recovery of enterprise database platforms under the leadership of more experienced staff.  Employee will provide support and guidance for configuration and management of network operating systems and guidance for configuration and administration of infrastructure applications.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Develops relationships with customers (internal and/or external)
  • Maintains larger business scope when making decisions and brings to supervision for review and approval
  • Continually builds/improves capabilities of the organization by championing innovation and implementing best practices
  • Assists with the responsibility for meeting challenging business goals, objectives, using financial/process tools/metrics to gauge progress and measure health of the operation
  • Performs Database Administration services needed by the critical business applications of the enterprise
  • Adapts to ever changing IT and corporate environment by retooling knowledge and skill sets
  • Performs System Administration services needed by the critical business applications of the enterprise
  • Assists in supporting other infrastructure services
  • Ability to work with a moderate degree of autonomy

 

Other requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and insurability
  • Reliable attendance, scheduling flexibility when job demands require
  • Ability to work positively and effectively prioritize in a high-stress, demanding environment

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology, computer science, or another technical field
  • 1-3 years of IT/BU experience
  • Ability to read, listen, understand, and communicate information and ideas in a clear and understandable manner, orally and in writing
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, initiative
  • Excellent spelling, grammar, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (interacting with individuals at all levels within organization)
  • Adaptability/flexibility
  • Sound business judgment
  • Creativity, problem-identification and solving ability
  • Focus on quality, accuracy, detail

 

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree
  • Practical business experience in non-IT setting
  • Experience in mid-size (100-500) employee organization with geographically dispersed offices
  • Continuing IT learning efforts
