Overview

The Manager, Contracts will ensure that appropriate contracts are negotiated, entered, and managed to support Company objectives in procurement and risk management. The Manager, Contracts will also contribute to other objectives such as operations, safety, quality, cost control, contractor compliance, bidding & awarding, and vendor management. This position will oversee Master Services Agreements, Master Purchase Agreements, and other contracts to support a broad supply base of goods and services for major capital projects, minor capital projects, and operating assets. The Manager, Contracts will provide functional expertise and support in contract execution and administration to the Supply Chain Services Department; and serve as the interface between the Operations, Supply Chain Services, Finance & Accounting, and Legal groups to ensure business, technical and legal objectives are met with a high degree of interaction.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Oversee organizational contract development and management activities and enforce organizational principles of integrity and compliance
  • Oversee contractor compliance, vendor qualification and management, and bidding and awarding of contracts
  • Ensure that contracts and proposals are properly entered into organizational databases and securely maintained
  • Develop standards for contracts, including presentation of budget, payment terms, general language, and provisions
  • Perform appropriate administrative and operational research to support proposal and contract development
  • Conduct contract strategy meetings to identify issues and end-user requirements, facilitate pricing discussions, and obtain senior management input on schedules and deliverables
  • Facilitate contractual provisions based on strategy discussions, senior management input, and organizational needs and expectations
  • Assure accuracy and appropriateness of contract text and attachments
  • Coordinate reviews with internal departments in the event counter-parties desire modifications to standard agreements and serve as the primary organizational contact during contract negotiations
  • Engage relevant stakeholders in negotiation decisions involving legal or regulatory requirements, contract standards, and cost targets
  • Develop and execute negotiation strategies that minimize potential losses and benefit SSCGP’s financial performance
  • Maintain deadlines on deliverables and communicate consistently with business partners and internal clients about contractual issues
  • Review contractual performance of the parties to ensure compliance with terms and conditions and identify conflicts or changes requiring resolution at contract renewal

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in lieu of
  • 6 or more years of relevant experience in supply chain, legal, risk mitigation, engineering or relevant field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with business partners
  • Ability to travel up to 20% by car and/or plane

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, legal, risk mitigation, engineering or relevant field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience, including leadership roles
  • Proven success managing cross-functional teams or leading projects
  • Experience with contract negotiations
  • Vendor qualifications and risk management experience
  • Experience developing and overseeing standard operating procedures
  • Proficient in Oracle or other ERP systems
