Intern, Commercial Services

Southern Star is currently seeking highly motivated and energetic students or recent graduates to join our team as summer interns. The Commercial Services internship offers hands-on experience, mentorship, orientation and training, and valuable work assignments. This position offers a variety of opportunities, including shadowing and assisting Commercial Services team members to gain a better understanding of customer service, natural gas transportation, contracts administration, nominations, and commercial operations within the pipeline industry. The intern will also perform and/or participate in additional activities and events that help build a strong network within the Southern Star community and with fellow interns.

Highlights/Internship Overview: This is a 12-week, competitively paid summer internship starting in May and ending in August. Interns work 40 hours per week with paid company holidays. A taxable housing stipend may be provided to obtain housing near the Southern Star work location if the successful candidate’s permanent home address and current college address is determined by Southern Star to be greater than reasonable driving distance from the assigned work location.

• Assist the Commercial Services team with daily customer service and commercial support activities
• Support the contract administration processes
• Analyze operational and commercial data to identify trends and support decision-making
• Create, maintain, and update reports, dashboards, and presentations
• Participate in process improvement projects that enhance efficiency and customer service
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Operations, Accounting, Information Technology, Rates and Regulatory, to support commercial initiatives and business objectives
• Attend meetings and gain exposure to commercial aspects of the natural gas pipeline industry
• Conduct research and prepare summaries related to industry trends, market developments, and customer needs
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• You must be 18 years of age by the start of the summer internship assignment
• You must be authorized to work in the United States
• You must be currently enrolled as a junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Energy Management, Marketing, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, or a related field
• You must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 after each completed semester/term
• Plan to pursue a career in commercial operations, energy services, business analytics, customer service, or a related field
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Demonstrated leadership experience through student organizations, athletics, volunteer work, or employment
